My toddler managed to slam the door on his own fingers twice last week, so I grabbed these and the shock absorbing foam really does soften the impact. They grip the door edge well enough that he can't yank them off either.

Snapped these on the door edge in about ten seconds and they've already saved my toddler's fingers twice from a hard slam. The foam takes the impact well, though I wish the adhesive were slightly stronger since one shifted after a week of heavy use.
